Maybe NEA is planning on entering China?
@austted
Unfortunately there is no sure-fire way of protecting IP in China. I would be most concerned about our AI capabilities / processing infrastructure. The camera, being a piece of hardware, would be much easier to find, and reverse engineer than getting access to source code. They would just have to pay off one of the pilots.
The great firewall makes it difficult for data to be consumed via foreign servers, so most companies have a separate instance of their servers inside the mainland. For NEAs data, this would be non-negotiable because the latency of going across the firewall would be terrible for their large amounts of data.
Following on this massively speculative trail, China would be a great market for NEA. Lots of infrastructure development, and a very large market.
