thanks, it’s going so well. It took quite a few years (15 or more) to get to where I am now but every quarter/bi annual period I see a substantial amount of money returned to me in the form of dividend. That sum is always reinvested. I always top up around the same time as well too. I use margin loans and as a result I usually also enjoy a nice sum of money returned back into my pocket every year when I do my tax returns. The franking credit, deductible interest as well as cost of managing my investments usually is enough for a sick holiday.
I used to be obsessed with entry points and reducing my cost dollar on investment, but now I don’t care. I’ve actually edited all my accounts to reflect a zero dollar cost basis so all I ever see is green in my portfolio haha.
In 10 years I’ll be turning off my DRP and taking the dividends into my everyday account whilst I enjoy retirement. I’ll be under 50, this game has been about patience and keeping capital available for major corrections. I’ve never been highly paid, never been given a leg up or inheritance, I just followed a simple system and stuck with it.
Hence why $20k on IAG will fit in nicely. If I follow the same strategy I expect this stock to provide me $5k+ p.a I’m the future. I like it a lot.
