I had a colonoscopy the other day - turns out I've got a situation that requires annual colonoscopies - I said to the Doc, "I'm not sure about having so many general anaesthetics as I've heard they can cause cognitive issues down the track" and he looks at me and says "oh no we don't give you a general, you're totally awake, we just give you a couple of drops of a drug that makes you not remember the experience, so we're telling you to move and you're moving around as we say" - I didn't know if I should be happy or freaked out
