My understanding of patenting a natural product is that it isnt easy. It isnt like patenting a left handed screw which goes round corners which clearly is "new and inventive".

For a natural product to be patentable it must (like any other invention) be new and inventive. ... In each case, the natural ingredient may already be known, but becomes patentable by virtue of the way it is used or the form in which it is used.

These products may not be patentable by law but I have no doubt that they will be looking at this behind the scenes. Remember, you have to be clear about the patenting process. Failed patent applications become public domain documents - accessible to anyone.
