The amount of battery grade graphite will be a small percentage of the total amount of synthetic graphite produced. To achieve that level of purity will require further refining.

Four tonnes of solid carbon will be produced for every one tonne of hydrogen.

You can do the maths on how much solid carbon will be produced by plants that have a hydrogen output of 2000 to 10000 tonnes.

When you consider how many of these plants may be built around the world, you can see where “mountains” of solid carbon is a likely outcome.
