Refering to my earlier post, I have received distribution from AJA by direct bank transfer last Friday. And yesterday I received by post notification that the transaction took place and advising me officialy ( I suppose) that since the announcement to pay was made on 25th July the tax is due in 2008/09 tax return.

I still thing it is stupid, especially since they only announced an estimate of 5c a unit, not hard and fast 5c a unit which they eventualy paid 2 months later.

But nobody said that tax laws and rules have to make any sense, that is why we have so many tax agents and accountants. I bet that if you gave exactly same paperwork to 10 different accountants they would generate 10 different tax returns, and most likely the would all be accepted by ATO.
