It appears from the media statement and Minister’s comments that the PRL-GEV partnership to explore the feasibility of exporting compressed hydrogen by ship from the HyEnergy project at Carnarvon is one of the first beneficiaries of this new WA Govt Hydrogen fund. They are kicking in $300K to GEV to assist with the costs of that study. PRL carries no financial obligations, so GEV have cleverly got the WA Govt onboard to help them cover the lions share. Not huge $, but in context this is also the amount BP is getting for their own project.
I would not be surprised to see separate announcements in due course specific to PRL’s eligibility for and access to funding from this same pool for HyEnergy, as distinct from the GEV shipping project.
Surprised to see GEV and PRL do not have an announcement out yet. The amount may not be material to PRL but the WA Govt establishing a new fund, and the Minister directly mentioning PRL at her press conference, is notable.
