We have often considered the Cooper Basin Hot Rocks as being very deep requiring wells from 4,000m to 5,000m+. Indeed they are. Take a look here though at the "Giant" find BP have made under the sea in the Gulf of Mexico.
Deep? Deeper than Mt. Everest is high, but "we're going after it baby." 10,500metres +!
