From AFRBritish Prime Minister Boris Johnson has broken an election promise and a tenet of Conservative politics by announcing a £12 billion ($22 billion) increase in taxes on salaries and dividends.
The move, which has shaken many tax-phobic Conservative MPs, will initially fund a three-year, £36 billion rescue dash for the National Health Service (NHS), whose pandemic-battered hospitals are grappling with a record 5.5 million people on waiting lists for treatments and procedures.
