This listicle conflates edge computing (where computing takes place on a device rather than in a data centre/the cloud) with benefits of 5G and the ability to reduce data latency.
Edge computing doesn't require constant network access. That's the beauty of it. The compute is performed on the device so data transmission is reduced. Edge computing doesn't mean that 5G network traffic will increase, unless it draws on large volumes of data like streaming services.
