China was handed the whole industry on a plate...
For quite a while I have owned Lynas Corp (LYC.AX).
They proved up their deposit, did all the right things and started to build a processing facility in Malaysia when their financiers without warning "pulled the plug" last year.
After letting the market for the company collapse, the Chinese came in with a low ball offer that the company was forced to accept in exchange for a controlling interest. The project has resumed but now the Chinese have full control, courtesy of some short sighted bankers in the west...
