Looking at my Energy "Bible" -the BP Statistical Review of World Energy 2020 for facts. 2019 China produced 47.6% of the worlds coal . China consumed 52% of the worlds coal production. 2019 Australia produced 7.8% of the worlds coal production. Australia consumed 1.1% of the worlds coal production. From 2008 to 2018 inclusive, Australia's coal annual consumption has fallen by 2.8% annually. That is a drop of about 28%.since 2008. China's annual consumption rate is 1.7%. That is a growth of 17% since 2008. The following data is based on known reserves and current annual production. Proven reserves as at end 2019. Coal 132 years of reserves . Natural Gas 50 years of reserves Oil 50 years of reserves. NB I have been accessing this BP Review since 1988. Nobody, Greens, Environmentalists etc have challenged the reliability or standing of these annual Reviews. For me it puts readers in a good place to debate the facts on many issues concerning world energy consumption.
