As someone who has managed his own SMSF for the past 17 years, I agree entirely with what you say about these funds. Not only has my SMSF been and remains a financial success, the running of it continues to be personally satisfying. That is important for a retired guy of my age.Probably more than anything else researching for stock selection, keeps my brain active.
I have not read Padley's article yet. No doubt it will also appear in "The West". I find him a most enjoyable read. He is a great story teller. However, in my view, everything he says has to be taken with a very large grain of salt.
By the way, just in care you are not aware of it, those famous words "those who can do, those thatcan't teach" were uttered by that famous philosopher George Bernard Shaw.
