I am not so sure this is really that much of an issue. Of the major ETF's, none I know of follow the ASX100 eg: A200, GEAR, IOZ, SFY & VAS. With admittedly only a quick look, I could only find MVE who does and it only has a $189m MC, FYI VAS has $9.4b by way of a comparison.
The ASX200 index is the biggie to drop out of as there are quite a few ETF's that track this. DYOR.
