There's nothing 'appropriate' about rage. In my experience, people lose control, either voluntarily surrendering it or not, & they lash out at the world. & all around them, often hurting those closest. That's all there is to it.
But when the only tool in your toolbox is a hammer, I guess everything looks like a nail... IMO that's inappropriate rage every time.
