Umm nah, IMO the reason for the decline is the trial, Tshirts and real or perceived poor management (IMO its real given the first two points).
When the bullets start spraying some leaders jump out of the trench to inspire and lead the team to victory, some go and hide in the officers quarters a long way behind the front... I think we know the type leading the IBX troops as we only seem to see / hear anything when the sun is shining.
