Outstanding post Waymax, thanks for taking the time to do this.

The question of where they locate the rail is one I have attempted to look at but without detailed information on the terrain I gave up. I asked my civil design engineer mate to have a look who has experience in rail and he stated the same regarding lack of information.

I agree with your analysis regarding this aspect. It will be costly regardless how they do it, but it most definately can be done and has been before.
