Sometimes when a stock runs overly hard long / short managers short it in the anticipation of mean reversion.
E.g. if the market fell hard on the W/E due to US one might expect outsized falls in MLX based on profit taking, it's happening in the U stocks today. That being said I think if you were shorting MLX you would deservedly be copping it sweet. IMVHO.
