800 at $36 a pop every 24 hours is $28K a day to Redflex. Won't last at that rate of course but even 50 every 24 hours would give $55K a month for this single system compared to budget of about $5K a month.

Only catch is that in Scottsdale at present according to some news reports payment rate for citations is only a very low 50% as they do not have, as other states do, legislation preventing rego or licence renewal if you have outstanding fines. This is said to be about to change and the city is to get much tougher on non payment.

Even 50% of $55K for the first month will be a great start, they are already planning another 2 of these mid block fixed speed cameras plus a series of linked speed cameras on Loop 101, a state highway around Scottsdale where apparently if you stick to the 65mph speed limit now you will get run off the road.
