Miner hope for 5 new coal projects in central Queensland
    Thursday, 10 Sep 2009

A mining company said that it has hopes for at least five new coal projects in central Queensland over the next few years.

Bandanna Energy said that it is investigating a range of projects, including the Dingo, Alpha, Springsure and Emerald areas. It is also exploring another possible seven coal deposits.

Mr Ray Shaw MD of Bandana said that it hopes to start its proposed Dingo West mine within two years. He said that "That's very conveniently located on the Blackwater to Gladstone rail line.”

He added that "We see that as being an open-cut, where we'd be producing thermal coal and PCI coal for the export market, then probably a year or so after that we have a project down at Arcturus, that's still at a concept stage."
