A positive update for Primero with its’ Lake Mackay potash project for Agrimin ( which was already a government ‘major project’ ) upgraded to ‘Lead Agency’ status today.
Around four months back, on May 13, 2021, Primero was awarded the front-end engineering design (FEED) contract for the process plant.
.. “Under the contract, the NRW Holdings subsidiary will also deliver the associated non-process infrastructure at the 426,000 tonne per annum sulphate of potash (SOP) project…”….
….. “Following the FEED contract, Primero will provide Agrimin with an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract, which will allow Agrimin to proceed with a final investment decision…” https://www.australianmining.com.au/news/primero-receives-engineering-design-contract-from-agrimin/

Agrimin has been granted lead agency status by the State Government for its Lake Mackay sulphate of potash project in remote WA near the Northern Territory border.
The Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation will act as the lead agency for the project, helping the streamline the company’s effort to deal with permitting and approvals from multiple government departments.
Agrimin said it was advancing approvals and project financing for Lake Mackay ahead of an expected final investment decision by the middle of next year.
An Environmental Impact Assessment remains a key milestone for the company.
Agrimin chief executive Mark Savich said Lead Agency Status highlighted the strategic importance of the Lake Mackay and reinforced the WA Government’s conviction in supporting a new sulphate of potash industry.
“Development of the Mackay potash project will underpin significant investment in regional infrastructure extending from Lake Mackay to Wyndham port, as well as create long-term job opportunities for several of WA’s most remote communities,” he said.
Agrimin is the first of a handful of aspiring sulphate of potash players in WA to secure lead agency status for its project.
Agrimin shares were up.
