Ah, that article you posted did not mention the most important reason of forming this new group, that is "It is reported that the rare earth resources of the three parties involved in this announcement are mainly medium and heavy rare earths (HREE), accounting for 85.9% of the first batch of NATIONAL rare earth mining allowance for HREE in CY 2021. This may mean that a "super" medium and heavy rare earth group will be established." What this means is that the Chinese will have more control over supply and pricing of HREE in the future. Very good news for Lynas indeed.
