It's simply that some universities have better reputations than others so if their CV shows they graduated from a better university they have an advantage.
Curtin university has a good reputation but old school UWA is still "the university" to go to. I studied at Curtin, interesting to see the overseas students pay their fees $10-$15k in cash and had some of the most expensive car in the car parks.
LOL Curtin University use to be know as WAIT (WA institute of technology) story goes they where going to rename it "Curtin University of New Technology" LOL the acronym had an issue
