re: I am not sure if they are using 5 inch drill pipe , but I think they possibly are , I am not sure if the tool joints of 5 inch pipe even fit inside 5 1/2 casing .If not they will need to get a drill string of smaller drill pipe.

I think they should b using the same sort of Casing used at Waitsia & WE2, ie P-110,VA Superior. OD/ ID for that is 5.5" & 4.875" (140m/ 121.4mm).
They should make up a 4.5" drill bit with 3.5" Drill Collars etc & then get started with the milling the cement that has set inside the Liner (apprx 15.8 ppg or 1.9 SG density). Also note that this section from 3097 (9" shoe) till TD is not vertical, its apprx deviated at apprx 30 deg. So worst case scenario will b as u'd know perforate the casing & do a cement squeeze job above the zone where gas shows started.
Securing the well first will b their priority. If they r able to cleanup & pump cement, then run a Cement Bond log to check the integrity of the cement job in the Annulus. I just hope they can avoid drilling a sidetrack, as that will just add to the overall budget & cause unnecessary delays with timeframe for flow testing etc. Hope to see more clarity on progress made, in their next update.
