That was Noosa in July 2021? If so that gives them until July 2023 to be exporting copper concentrate, even if all the permits are finalized they would have needed to commence construction in July 2021 to make it by July 2023.
No power, no water, airstrip needs upgrading along with comms, then they need to bring in a construction camp to even get construction underway, wet season will take out Jan and Feb 2021 so even if they press the go button in March 2022 they will have one full dry season in 2022 and then March-July 2023 to build a mill, tailings dam, prestrip, power station, solar farm and other associated infrastructure and start open pit mining.
I don't think they will be shipping concentrate in July 2022 - a 2-3 year construction build and commissioning is common for even brownfield base metal operations in Australia and that was pre-covid time frames let alone the current environment of labour and materials shortages. Mining and construction contractors finding it difficult to even quote for work at the moment because they have no idea what the labour market will look like in the future.
Don't get me wrong - its a decent deposit and will be mined eventually, and the KGL team have made good progress simplifying the construction project, I note the Jervois Mine Management Plan talks about a 554 day lifespan of construction and site establishment, sounds about right to me, if it never rains for 554 days.
If they press the "go" button on 01March 2022 then 554 days later is around Sept 2023 - that will give Simon 2-3 months to wash all the fruit and drinks out of his hair...
