Pathology laboratories had raked in almost $1 billion in medicare rebates.
The medicare levy increased from $28.65 to $85 in April 2020.
Laverty did 6 million tests and results took almost a week.
From March 2020 to August 2021 - 12 million covid tests.
Substantial profits to Healius, Sonic and Australian Clinical Laboratories. Profiteering is the appropriate word.
Compare this to an accurate RAT test at about $25 per swab with about a 10 minute result.
Let's hope the TGA is fully staffed and getting on with things.
