Canning Basin Coal Study
An aerial photo and satellite imagery study conducted in 2003 highlighted significantly more sub/outcrop of the Liveringa Group than shown on published maps.
As part of this study a review of the priority target areas for potential export quality thermal coal deposits showed a focus on shallow (<150m) coal as a priority
The strike length of sub/outcropping coal
seams in the Rey tenure is approximately 170km.
170km...........................
An additional study in 2005 reviewed all available petroleum well information and seismic data to correlate coal seams intersected in petroleum wells with 2D seismic.
The study concluded that the most significant coal seams in the basin are present throughout the Rey tenure.
