Directors owning shares being an issue is a matter of perspective.
Directors don't have to be an owner of the company, they are there to do a great job.
Many directors have skin in the game, many don't, especially ones that they pay for.
Founders of companies more often than not buy more, and optimistic Directors in the right situation often will, but we must remember we have no idea of a Directors personal financial risk attitude, we don't know if they are in debt, we don't know if ideologically what their thoughts are, to be honest, we don't not very much about them personally.
Do we expect our next-door neighbor to own shares, at all, let alone in the company he or she works at, I don't think we do.
Maybe some of our neighbours are Directors, we understand our financial philosophy isn't theirs and vice versa.
Because we buy shares we think it's normal but there are a lot of people out there in the world, Directors included that don't risk money, some see investment and shares as a form of gambling because it is.
Many, many people don't buy shares.
But because we have a self-interest in a company many expect that another person should buy shares, why, to make someone else happy, like shareholders?
I am not sure that is their job, and they most definitely don't have to buy shares because of our expectations.
That's how I and many others see it anyway.
That said I do love to see which Directors are buying and selling, it can be quite informative.
But that doesn't mean I think that anybody should spend money just to make me or anyone else happy.
We are all different and have different concepts of risk and security.
Our perspective and someone else's can vary greatly.
