Pundits have been saying that about China all throughout the last decade, and the decade before that.
Fact is the mainland Chinese sharemarkets are a long term dog. Part casino, part traders paradise. I get it - large population emerging middle class. But it still seems like a turnaround story - when do turnarounds turn? TAM of a worldwide audience is over 7 billion, much much greater than the Chinese population. When will Chinese companies be globally dominant? Will western governments and compatitors even allow it given the suspicion and perceived geopolitical risk?
Meanwhile the country has actually gone backwards legally and politically. For western companies it’s still merely the world’s factory (and about to be moved on to cheaper countries to manufacture eg. Vietnam, Bangladesh, etc).
Reading AC’s reports he seems to be a China apologist. Not saying the punt on China is the reason for the depressed SP. That reason as I mentioned before is that FUM has gone nowhere since listing in the mid 2000’s.
