Many thanks for your reply to my COST query. In spite of the fact that page 33 of the FMG annual report claims that average realised price was US$135, the actual price, as noted by yourself was US$122.39 per tonne sold ($22.3bn/182.2m tonnes). The reason for the variance is probably due to the shipping cost not being included in total cost. We are therefore left with the mystery as to what the quoted buying prices for IO represent. i.e FOB or CIF to what delivery port? The shipping cost from Brazil to China is about double that of the shipping cost from Port Headland to China, so how is this difference factored into the price? Does it simply mean that the IO price X Australia is higher than X Brazil and if so by what amount?
