below is a draft copy of an email I am planning to send to Michael Ruane.
I would appreciate any comments/suggestions, or even endorsements, before sending it off.
If there is a consensus agreement about the main points, it might give it some more clout

    Dear Mr Ruane,
As a longstanding shareholder in Reward, I have seen the value of my holding decline from a high of $2.50 to the recent low of 30cps.
As we know, this loss of value is largely due to the failure to form an agreement with the TO’s at Lake Disappointment – either through consensus or by legal means.
While it is possible that both parties may be feeling aggrieved over recent events surrounding these outcomes, I believe now is a critical time in taking the negotiations forward. Future success depends very much on actions that are taken now.

I am a little surprised at the slowness with which negotiations have proceeded since the NNTT decision was handed down. Whatever the reasons for this, I thought it was about time to let you know what at least one shareholder is feeling.

I believe that now is the time to make a fresh start with the Martu. It is in everyone’s interest for a deal to be done. I believe that Reward needs to be more pro-active in getting the ball rolling. Relying on third parties, while helpful, places the timing and agenda out of our hands.

While I am not privy to the details of what has happened in the past, or to your thoughts on them, I would like to offer my own ideas purely as an interested, outside observer.

I believe that, in the first instance, the relationship with the Martu needs to be restored, before negotiating over the details of an agreement can get started. Right now, the relationship is the critical thing. Both parties need to put the past behind them. Any bad blood from the past needs to be cleared, and some sense of trust and goodwill re-established. Perhaps some apologies or schmoozing may be required - not knowing the situation, I don’t know what it’s going to take. I do know that this is not the time for too much ego or pride to get in the way.
    A few more random thoughts:-
    • I believe that if the Martu are approached with the attitude that they are a good-hearted people, then they are more likely to respond in that way.
    • I am speculating here, but it is possible that they are unused to dealing with power in a white man’s world, and we need to cut them some slack.
    • I believe that, right now, some heartfelt sentiments will be more helpful than hard-headed negotiations.

You may have already considered these things, If so, then please ignore these ramblings.
I am writing to you because, as CEO of Reward, you are representing my interests – and the interests of all shareholders – at the future negotiations with the TO’s.

Thank you for taking the time to read my views. I would be very interested to know your own thoughts on what you see as the best way of taking the negotiations forward.
