I do find it funny how obsessed many Aussie investors are with dividends.

I wish our companies would lean more towards taking their surplus money and doing buybacks and/or focus on growth or M&A like most of the Americans do, rather than payouts where we have to get taxed on and then just reinvest anyway...

IMO the whole point of investing money is you're entrusting in the management of these companies to do a better job of growing it than yourself, so no idea why we are so keen to focus on getting periodic payouts as a way to assess the quality of a company.

Yeah our franking system helps, but still...
