If this type of retro-fitting has been done in the past, then there's no reason why GDY wouldn't proceed with this method.
The big saving is in not having to dig new holes and lay new foundations for every single tower. That type of saving is massive considering the line for GDY will be close to 500kms.
I assume that each individual footing would have to be inspected and certified for retro-fitting a tower, as it's possible that the odd one may be unsuitable, for instance if it has cracks, etc.
