One swallow does not a summer make, but 'The Oz' online on the arvo of Tuesday 12 October 2021 has some encouraging data, given the weather in Sydney yesterday wasn't great:
"NSW is “absolutely back in business”, with bank data from freedom day revealing a 10-fold increase in spending across previously shuttered retail and hospitality sectors.
Based on data from NAB merchant terminals on Monday, and adjusting for the entire market given the bank’s share of most segments is over 20 per cent, about $12.8m was spent in the state’s restaurants, pubs and bars, up from $1m the previous Monday...."
