Great, thanks for the clarification. Makes sense to me, as long as the terms of the TO Bid are clearly in the company's interest, you can keep things under wraps.
BUT:
If WD launch a TO bid with the intention of preventing the metrics being known to the wider industry, it has to knock it out of the park.
Otherwise the board will put up a competing announcement saying "WD are lowballing us, for X Y and Z reasons."
