Its extremely hard for coal companies to get credit in order to expand production. Only the companies that are run the best and have the highest margins will be able to do it self funded in western countries, not to mention the extreme difficulties in obtaining additional permits. Any considerable coal supply increase will mostly come from China, and if China leans away from capitalism and reverts mostly back to a communist economic model, these coal mines will become alot less productive thats for sure, nobody would want to risk their life in a chinese coal mine without proper remuneration. I see the Coal macro play as one of the strongest moving forward, especially trading at this forward PE ratio, the risk seems very minimal but upside potential is significant. Very asymmetric trade right here
