D03 Be as negative as you wish but in many cases the source gas would have otherwise gone to waste, or flared (hydrocarbon extraction) or used as fuel ( only if suitable at that site) or left in the ground. A suitable option to utilise natural gas while transiting to the non-carbon future is a lot less CO2 generating than any other carbon based fuel.
