@Parsifal - @cara I am a red poppy fan - absolutely adore that plant - even though my grandmother always had her own poppy seeds from her own fields, it seems I was never there in time for either flowering or harvesting - but always loved the red poppies which began their short lives in wheatfields after the wheat had been harvested - and got sensitive and learnt to love the smell of the poppy seeds when pounded to a pulp in the huge wooden mortar which stood behind the door. Seems the edible poppy also has similar qualities to the opium poppy. I sometimes make a pastry with a poppyseed filling - it's delicious but not liked by all.
I remember - once - getting rolls of crepe paper and making huge poppies, which decorated our simple - and rented - home for many months - crepe paper is so great you can shape it by pulling and stretching the individual petals - to me that was art - and art is a wonderfully soothing activity - so I understand you use it as a refuge, but creating so much more than my simple poppy flowers. cheers Taurisk
