GG. If we need gas (or coal, or oil) to be used as a transitionary fuel while we get our renewable electricity and green hydrogen infrastructure etc. up to scratch.... totally agree. As alternatives are developed/scaled up (e.g. green hydrogen for trucks, buses, ships), then fossil fuels will be phased out. Coal is no longer necessary, except for metallurgical coal. Once we have reliable renewable energy networks in place, gas/coal for electricity generation is gone.
So imho there is no need to PEP11. Any gas we use domestically will be more than serviced from our current suppliers (until they transition out as well).
btw I used to be a gas fan for home cooking (cheaper than electricity), but now live in an all-electric house (Passive House with solar), and the induction cooking is fantastic.... so much more energy efficient. When home batteries come to a decent price in a couple of years will add one of them too. That's the future.
