News: BHP Deals of the day-Mergers and acquisitions

Oct 20 (Reuters) - The following bids, mergers, acquisitions and disposals were reported by 1000 GMT on Wednesday:

** German airline Lufthansa LHAG.DE and British peer easyJet EZJ.L gained backing from Europe's second top court for their acquisitions of insolvent German carrier Air Berlin's assets four years ago.

** Britain's competition regulator has fined Facebook FB.O 50.5 million pounds ($69.6 million) for breaching an order imposed during its investigation into the U.S. social media giant's purchase of GIF platform Giphy, the agency said.

** GeoPost, the express parcel arm of French Groupe La Poste LAPST.UL , has acquired a 20.15% stake in Dubai-listed courier firm Aramex ARMX.DU , according to a regulatory filing.

** Public Power Corp (PPC) DEHr.AT , Greece's biggest power utility, has agreed to sell a minority stake in the country's sole power grid operator HEDNO to Macquarie Asset Management (MQG) , PPC and Macquarie said.

** Falck Renewables' FKR.MI main shareholder agreed to sell its controlling stake in the Italian energy group to Infrastructure Investment Fund (IIF), the company said.

** EDF Renewables UK said that it sold a 49% stake in its Blyth offshore windfarm in Northeast England to Malaysian utility Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB).

** French holding company Wendel MWDP.PA said it was in exclusive talks to sell decorative paints specialist Cromology to DuluxGroup, after Dulux made an offer giving Cromology an entreprise value of 1.26 billion euros ($1.47 billion).

** BHP Group (BHP) topped a takeover offer for Canadian nickel miner Noront Resources NOT.V by billionaire Andrew Forrest's Wyloo Metals earlier this week, as the two miners vie for the key battery metal used in electric vehicles (EVs).
