The announcements say they're modelling it on being an IAC deposit like Makuutu (IXR) but the drill hits and only geo research on the ground don't line up with what other IAC deposits look like on face value (admittedly the geo research I'm referring to was part of an academic thesis).

You'd commit to the drill program anyway if you think you've potentially got enough grade and tonnage (with low radioactivity), that it's worth looking into even if needs more expensive extraction methods. With REE prices where they are and potential government incentives, other non-IAC deposits are coming back into the picture. They're just stupidly rare to be financially viable. IAC deposits they dig with a shovel in China.
