Yes well aware of the PGF SPP. Issuing free options might be motivated by the same reasons that SPPs are carried out, for the fund managers. I would argue that they are a very different beast for investors though. I have not once received options that have been in the money before expiry and if I had not sold them they would have expired worthless. I have sold my options in both PIC and FGX as I consider there is little chance of the shares being above conversion price before expiry. Each to their own and this is not investment advice. I treat my free options as free money and sell on market.
