As much as I would have loved to see them priced for the retail enthusiast, I still have to consider that: a) they are not the target market for the development kits at this time; b) they probably want to recoup the money that was spent on the R&D and chip manufacturing, and c) they stand to show some good revenue should they sell several of the kits to the big companies.

I would also assume that Brainchip themselves are not logistically capable of handling the orders and shipping of a large amount of these devices. I am sincerely hoping that there will be a "partner" out there capable of handling orders and deliveries on a large scale (think of places like DigiKey that already sell Raspberry Pi devices).

Perhaps one of these 3rd parties will buy a large volume of Akida chips at a good price, composite them with a Raspberry Pi using some reference specs from Brainchip and sell them at prices geared towards hobbyists. At this point, I am eyeing (no pun intended) the Magik-Eye development kit (Pi sold separately) that will be using the Akida processor when they are available.

Now, if the stock price had reached $1.50 yesterday, I would have sold some shares to buy the $5k kit. smile.png
