The truth is that Jesus preached the same message that the Prophets in the Old Testament preached. There is a passage in the Bible which really emphasizes his core message. A man came to Jesus and asked “Which is the first commandment of all?”Jesus answered, “The first of all the commandments is Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one.’’[Mark 12:28-29].

Yes, you got that right! Here it is from a Bible that not substituted a title where God's name was in the original writings.
(Mark 12:28, 29) One of the scribes who had come up and heard them disputing, knowing that he had answered them in a fine way, asked him: “Which commandment is first of all?”  Jesus answered: “The first is, ‘Hear, O Israel, Jehovah our God is one Jehovah,

Jesus was quoting from the OT.
(Deuteronomy 6:4, 5) “Listen, O Israel: Jehovah our God is one Jehovah.  You must love Jehovah your God with all your heart and all your soul and all your strength.

You say: It reminds us that since God created us, no one should be worshipped except God alone.
    -------------------
While this true, it is equally important to know which God Jesus was referring to.
(Deuteronomy 6:13) Jehovah your God you should fear, and him you should serve, and by his name you should swear.
