The basic rules of supply and demand also applies to share prices. When an investor, or number of investors, begin a major sell-off of their shares, it increases the amount of available shares to be traded on that day. When the supply of available shares on the sell side is higher than investor demand to buy the shares, this almost always leads to a decrease in the SP. The SP will then stay low until it reaches a low enough price to induce investors to buy this excess supply.
With regard to FNT's share trading situation specifically, IMHO, there are still some FNT investors, who see any rally in the FNT SP as an opportunity to sell. This was very much the case straight after the open today, despite the very good announcement from FNT today just prior to the opening of trading.
I will not comment on whether I think these investors are making a wise move or not. However, I will say that I was a very willing buyer near the close.
Cheers.
