ASX to edge up, third quarter CPI data ahead

Australian shares were poised for a muted open as Wall Street paused to catch its breath ahead of more key tech earnings and as commodities pulled back.
Third quarter CPI data will be released at 11.30am AEDT. Woolworths will release its fiscal 2022 first quarter sales results this morning.
ASX futures were up 4 points or 0.1 per cent to 7422 near 7am AEDT, reversing an earlier modest loss.
The local currency edged up, hovering just above US75¢. The yield on the US 10-year note slipped 2 basis points to 1.61 per cent near 4.20pm in New York.
On Wall Street, gains in Nvidia and other heavyweight technology names helped the benchmark S&P 500 index edge higher, while upbeat results from UPS and GE added to optimism around the third-quarter earnings season.
