It's common for traders to buy up positions leading up to quarterly reports. They'll pump it a bit on forums/social media and get unsuspecting investors all excited (who also buy up) whilst the traders exit their positions along the way or even on the day. Easy targets because quarterly reports are a somewhat predictable as to when they get announced.
