Charting is also a self fulfilling prophecy. The more people that follow it's principles (buy when this is happening, sell when this is happening), the more times the stock will actually rise and fall when the charts say it's supposed to, because charters are buying and selling. This is especially true when most of the action on a stock is from daytraders.

I suspect the people who are currently making the most money using charts are factoring in what other less experienced charters will be doing.
