Sorry SW I missed your question!
Pinks will occasionally turn up in most kimberlite pipes, there are a couple of mines that produce them on a regular basis, Brazil produce a few and I have seen an African production that produced a lilac purple/pink though the mine escapes me!
To my knowledge you cannot target a particular colour (especially pink) when exploring, the pink colour usually comes from a lattice distortion in the crystal, where most colour comes from a particular impurity in the crystal lattice such as Nitrogen in Yellows and Boron in Blue, Green is usually radiation affected. Though for instance searching in the Ellendale field you may be more likely to uncover Fancy Yellow. Ellendale did not produce any significant pink, just a few very small light pinks.
So down to luck.
Hope that answers your question and hopefully the info is correct as it is straight from my head!
