You would expect that if he/she was interested in seeing the company succeed he/she would be problem solving how to exploit the hell out of young female shoppers instead of highlighting the gap in understanding from a gender imbalanced workforce. Either he/she or the reporter has greater self interest in failure (or both). Personally whether he/she said this or not, he/she does not seem like a good fit for this business, and I'd rather see he/she chairing a different company I'm not invested in..
